As university students, we hear the same story over and over again. Over the Summer, when students are moving out of their accommodation they are forced to use storage companies that are incredibly overpriced. On top of the storage fees, you have to pay for the boxes, packing materials, pick-up, delivery, insurance, early cancellation fees - the bills rack up. We found that only 15% of students surveyed consider traditional storage solutions affordable. 

 

This led us to create SocialStore. SocialStore is a peer to peer storage solution that connects students looking for storage with others in their area who have extra space in their home.

Students renting space get cheaper and more flexible storage. As a renter, you get the same perks of a traditional storage company, but at a cheaper price with added convenience and a direct line of support.

Providers will advertise their space and asking price and customers choose the best option for them. If a person has half an empty room, half an empty wardrobe, or even a spare cupboard, they can use the space to make some income on the side. The competition between providers will lead to lower prices.
